The Open MRI features an innovative design, which greatly enhances patient comfort, especially when compared to the traditional tube-style MRI systems. Our Open MRI helps to:

• Minimize the claustrophobic effect and reduce patient anxiety
• Provide healthcare professionals complete patient access
• Accommodate larger than average patients, (the exam table can hold up to 550 pounds)

The entire unit was designed with the patient’s comfort in mind. Warm colors cover the walls, and floor to ceiling windows surround the MRI system adding to the “open” experience.

The quality of the images produced by the new equipment is also remarkable. Unlike the traditional MRI units, the Open MRI system at MHP can capture images of the extremities. Even the tiny bones of the wrist, which are typically hard to see, can be viewed with this machine.

This tool will be invaluable for diagnosing emergency, trauma, and cardiovascular patients. Radiologists also believe the MRI system will help detect cancerous lesions found in the breast that would not typically show up on a mammogram. With this advanced technology physicians at MHP will obtain faster results allowing more rapid diagnosis and treatment for patients.
