Internship Program
Acquiring medical knowledge and skills is the major goal of the
internship program at Mercy Health Partners. Our modern,
diverse, yet practical, rotating internships help interns achieve
this goal. We emphasis “hands on” training in order
to graduate confident, qualified residency candidates.
The internship program at MHP has a solid reputation as a learning-directed
experience. Interns have the ability to work one on one with the
attending physician to gain knowledge and experience they will be
able to use in the field of medicine. History and Physicals are
service related and the interns are encouraged to manage the patient
while hospitalized.
There is a wealth of clinical material at MHP and attending physicians’
work with interns to provide insight and expertise. Throughout the
program interns become part of the medical staff and provide an
important part of the healthcare delivered to this community.
Internships are available in:
- OB/GYN - Track
- Family Practice-special emphasis
- Traditional rotating internship
MHP is a member of the Statewide Campus System in affiliation
with Michigan State University. This affiliation allows interns
the privilege of attending monthly, daylong educational days.
By joining resources with MSU, MHP is able to provide modern and
applicable curricula for all levels of interns. Statewide education
standards are in place to evaluate the performance of interns. Ongoing
faculty development strengthens the teaching skills of the medical
educators at MHP. This in turn helps the faculty develop educational
standards and evaluation methods that can be applied uniformly to
various clinical education programs.
Didactics are strongly emphasized and the hospital provides approximately
250 separate educational experiences ranging from lectures and seminars
to morning reports, journal clubs, legal and business series, Osteopathic
Manipulative Treatment conferences and case presentations.
