Mercy Health Partners Receives ACR
Accreditation
Mercy Health Partners (MHP)
has been awarded a three-year term of accreditation in mammography
as the result of a recent survey by the American College
of Radiology (ACR). This is the fifth time MHP has received
this accreditation.
The ACR headquartered in Reston, VA, awards accreditation
to facilities for the achievement of high practice standards
after a peer-review evaluation of the practice. Evaluations
are conducted by board-certified physicians and medical physicists
who are experts in the field. They assess the qualifications
of the personnel and the adequacy of facility equipment.
The surveyors report their findings to the ACR’s Committee
on Accreditation, which subsequently provides the practice
with a comprehensive report.
“This accreditation process provides us the opportunity
to have the quality of our work evaluated by experts in the
radiology field. It is very important for us to maintain
this accreditation,” says Anne Hoekenga, Supervisor
of Mammography Services at MHP. “The ACR is nationally
recognized. Our patients and physicians can feel confident
knowing that our staff and equipment have passed this evaluation.
We are happy to say that the highest quality mammography
care is offered at MHP.”
The ACR is a national organization serving more than 32,000
diagnostic/interventional radiologists, radiation oncologists,
and medical physicists with programs focusing on the practice
of medical imaging and radiology oncology and the delivery
of comprehensive healthcare services.
MHP is the premier specialty referral hospital on the lakeshore,
providing a complete range of service including cardiovascular
care, orthopedics, rehabilitation, women’s health services
and emergency care. MHP is a not-for-profit organization
that has provided healthcare to this region since 1903. MHP
