Discovering A Healthy You

Mercy H.E.A.R.T. Center to host interactive, information-packed wellness event

October 3, 2006— Back by popular demand, the Mercy H.E.A.R.T. (Health Enhancement And Rehabilitative Therapy) Center is hosting its second free and interactive wellness event on Tuesday, October 17 from 5 to 8 p.m. The event is open to the public and people of all ages are welcome to attend.

Those attending the event will have the opportunity to receive:

  • A blood pressure screening
  • A body fat analysis
  • A lung function test
  • A heart failure assessment
  • Information about heart healthy diets
  • Fitness equipment instruction
  • Information about the Cancer Lifestyle Program

…and more, all completely free of charge. Cholesterol testing will also be offered for a $6 fee.

The highlight of the event will be a lecture provided by local vascular surgeon, Lawrence Mallon, MD. Dr. Mallon will provide information about the advances being made in his profession and he will be available for questions. The lecture is slated to begin at 6:30 p.m.

Professional healthcare providers from the Mercy H.E.A.R.T. Center will staff the event. Clinical pharmacists will also be on-site to review medications with attendees. They will evaluate the medications people are taking to ensure the right dose is being taken at the right time. For this evaluation, attendees are asked to bring their medications with them in a bag.

The purpose of this event is to educate the community about the importance of a health lifestyle.

For more information about this event call the Mercy H.E.A.R.T. Center at (231) 672-3648. Space will be limited for Dr. Mallon’s lecture therefore registration for the lecture is required. To register, please call (231) 672-3968.
