Women’s Services at Mercy Health Partners was
recently recognized with the 2005 Michigan Nurse Leader of
the Year Award from the Michigan Organization of Nurse Executives
(MONE). This annual award recognizes leaders in the nursing

on care and are leaders in their area of nursing. The mission
of MONE is to promote proactive nursing leadership while
providing development and support for the nursing profession.
MONE takes pride in being able to mold the future of healthcare
through nursing leadership.
Elaine has been a nurse for 40 years and has been a pioneer
in the area of shared governance and improving the birthing
experience. Many nursing innovations have taken place at
MHP in her 34 years at the hospital and have been through
her direction and hard work, especially in the area of obstetrics.
Elaine is continually developing areas of opportunity that
lead to increased patient care.
Those who have worked with Elaine know that she is a firm believer
in higher education for nurses. Elaine graduated from Western
Michigan University with a Bachelor of Science in Health and
obtained a Masters Public Administration from WMU as well.
As one colleague stated, “Elaine is a nurse’s nurse.” She
is always there to mentor nurses to further their profession
and education. MHP is very proud to have such a great leader
in nursing. |
