From the Chief Nursing Officer
Greetings!
I want to thank you for taking the time to consider Mercy Health Partners as a potential place for you to practice Nursing.
Please allow me to tell you a bit about Nursing at Mercy General.
I'd imagine that when you first went into Nursing, you did so
because you wanted to make a difference. At Mercy General, you can
make a difference!
Through Shared Governance nurses have the opportunity to come
together and make decisions that affect their practice and the care
they provide to their patients. Through Shared Governance at Mercy
General, we continually find ways to improve outcomes for our patients.
At Mercy General, you will also find many ways to grow as a professional
and as a person. You will begin with a preceptor-guided orientation
and then have the opportunity to participate in continuing education
classes throughout the year. You can even complete your B.S.N. degree
from the University of Detroit-Mercy through a hospital-supported,
on-site program. Or you may consider pursuing your Master's degree
with generous tuition reimbursement.
At Mercy General, you have the option to practice Nursing in many
different departments and with diverse patient populations. From
Emergency to Oncology, Pediatrics to Medical, Surgery to Obstetrics,
Cath Lab to Pain Center, you can put your skills to work and make
a difference for your patients. Along the way you will have the
opportunity to work collaboratively with physicians practicing innovative
medicine and care for patients from all over West Michigan. Some
of the procedures performed at Mercy General are only done at the
largest metropolitan medical centers in the United States.
At Mercy General, you will find many options for advancement in
nursing. You may obtain certification in your nursing specialty.
You can be trained as a preceptor or move between departments. You
can move into the specialties of Case Management, Education, or
Leadership. We also employ a number of Advanced Practice Nurses.
I urge you to consider beginning or continuing your career at
Mercy Health Partners. I want you to be a member of our
team helping me to provide the best patient care available in West
Michigan.
