Healthy Snacking

Snacking has become a way of life, especially for children. Many kids are taking in more calories than ever, but still falling short on meeting their daily needs of vitamins and minerals, and their physical activities are not keeping up with calorie consumption. The following are quick and healthy snack ideas for kids to ensure their daily needs are being met:

  • Fresh fruits and vegetables with low fat dips or peanut butter
  • String cheese
  • Air popped popcorn
  • Unsweetened cereal with low fat milk
  • Peanut butter sandwich on whole wheat bread
  • Cottage cheese with fruit
  • Graham crackers
  • Baked chips and salsa
  • Frozen fruit bars
  • Yogurt
  • Nuts
