The problem in consuming too few calories

When trying to lose weight it’s easy to think that consuming less than the recommended daily amount of calories will help you shed pounds faster. After all this seems logical; if restricting calories leads to weight loss, then the more you restrict the more you should lose. However, this is NOT the case.

By consuming too few calories you actually lead your body to think that you are starving. As a response your body will automatically start conserving energy and calories will not burn away like normal. Eventually your body will start to eat away at your muscles, which will further slow your metabolic rate. This means you really are not losing anything at all, rather you are training your body to hold onto what little you have.
