Clinical Research
In January 2002, Mercy Health Partners opened a medical
research department to centralize the research efforts of the hospital.
Because research is regulated by the federal government, the consolidation
of all medical research to one area will help MHP maintain necessary
records and comply with governmental policies and standards.
MHP's medical research department provides doctors with
general research opportunities and is a valuable medical resource
for medical school doctors doing their residency work at MHP.
Research at MHP is open to any area of medicine. Currently, most
of the research being conducted is cardiovascular in nature. The
department hopes to have studies started in the field of orthopedic
medicine and oncology in the near future.
Participation in the trials is voluntary, with most of the subjects
being past patients of MHP. If you wish to learn more about MHP's
medical research department and upcoming research efforts, please call (231) 672-3941.
